Melanin.jpg

Albinism is a genetic condition characterized by a lack of melanin, the pigment responsible for coloring the skin, hair, and eyes. People with albinism often have lighter skin and hair and are at a higher risk for vision problems and sun sensitivity. Additionally, in certain regions, harmful myths and superstitions have resulted in violence and exploitation, further marginalizing people with albinism and affecting their mental and physical well-being.

We came to know the situation of Albinos in Africa during September of 2017, when we came across an article about them in the French magazine "6 mois". This article, along with the many photographs it contained (which can also be found on this website) moved us, and it is during the summer of 2020 that we finally decided to try and help the African Albino cause, to stop persecution, raise Albinos' living conditions and improve their opportunities.
